More Adventures of Peg and Dale

It was time for the Bloggers to have their yearly photo at GDITC 2012.
Everyone wanted to have the photo taken at the front of the hall.
Peg and Dale had a different idea.

They decided they wanted the photo taken in the tree so up the tree they went.

Peg wanted to go up to the very top.

But Dale was scared so stopped in the fork.

Peg tried to talk Dale into going further up but she wouldn't go up any higher.
In the end they decided to get down as no one else would go up the tree with them.

They then thought it would be a good idea to have the photo sitting on the pillar outside the hall.

They sat there for a while and then finally decided to behave and get down.

Finally they joined everyone else in the Bloggers group photo.

Going on a road trip

My car is all packed.

I'm picking Maree up at 7am tomorrow and we are off to Nundle for GDITC 2012.

We are staying at Armidale tomorrow night and meeting up with the girls from Brisbane there and then on to Nundle on Friday.

It will be great to see all my fellow bloggers and quilters on the weekend.

All those travelling there have a safe trip.

Where Is The Mistake??

I have made this small quilt for the top of the bedside table in my spare bedroom.

After I quilted and binded it I discovered I had made a mistake in the construction.
I had checked every block and every row during construction but I didn't see the mistake.

Can you see the mistake??

I have decided that the mistake will be staying as obviously it is meant to be there and visitors can try and find it if they can't sleep while staying with me.

Tuesday's Treasures Pets Past and Present

Melody asked that you share your pets on Tuesday's Treasures today.
It got me thinking about the various pets that we have had over the years so I thought I would show my past and present pets as they are all special.

This is Benji. He was the first dog that was truely mine. We always had dogs and other assorted pets when I was growing up but at the youngest child I never got to choose any dogs until I was a teenager. Benji was my dog and I loved him very much. In his old age he was very spoilt by my parents.

This is my son as a young child with Sandy. Tim picked Sandy when he was 3 yrs old and she lived for 15 yrs. They were great mates.

We got Nutmeg when Tim was 4 ys old. He again picked her. She was such a good cat. She died at 9 yrs old of cancer.

This is my Red rumped parrot. I had a girl and a boy. The girl died 2 yrs ago and this one (the boy) died last year. We will get some more parrots later in the year.

I have now decided that fish are easier to keep especially when we want to go away frequently and you don't need to get anyone to feed, walk them etc when you are away.
My goldfish live in my pond and love their home. Some of them are getting quite big and we even have 1 baby.

I also had goldfish in my aquarium in the lounge room but they always died in there. It didn't matter what I did they would die within a few weeks.
I gave up keeping goldfish inside.

I decided to try to keep a siamese fighting fish in my aquarium. I always hate seeing these fish in tiny bowls, they look so cramped and unhappy.
Tim bought me this blue siamese fighting fish for Christmas. He loves swimming around his new home. I couldn't get a very good photo of him as he was scared of the camera and swam away and hid everytime I put the camera near the glass.

Don't forget to visit Melody for all the other Tuesday Treasures.

HAPPY VALENTINES DAY

When I got home from work today Treasure led me into the lounge room and on the table was my absolutely gorgeous early Valentines Day present.
He had bought me 12 beautiful long stemed red roses.

He cooked dinner for me as well, which he often does when he is at home.

Tomorrow he has to go to Toowoomba for a course for work, stay the night there and on Wednesday drive up to central Qld for 2 weeks work.

I am going to drive him to Toowoomba and go shopping while he is working (I had better look for a present for him, I think). We are then going to go to Gips restaurant for dinner, it looks really nice but we have never been there before.

Hope everyone has a special Valentines Day.

It's Flooding Again

It's raining again in south East Qld and northern NSW and there is local flooding in some areas.

This is what I encountered driving home yesterday afternoon from work.
This road rarely floods. In the floods last year it only flooded twice but it has now been flooded since yesterday morning.

I wasn't going to attempt to go through the flood water, unlike some other drivers I saw.
I turned around and took a higher road to get home. It might have taken me 20mins more to get home but at least myself and my car are safe.

I can't believe that some drivers, especially in small cars, will attempt to drive through flooded roads. It isn't worth the risk of your life, even if there is no other way to get home.

The above photos are all from the Gold Coast Bulletin website.

I woke up this morning to my backyard flooding.

A quick phone call to Treasure (who is away working) and a disaster has been diverted. There is now a hose from the backyard to the front draining all the water out onto the road. The water just missed going into the garage. I'm so glad Treasure has made sure that the trenches he made during our floods last year are still there to get rid of the excess water.

6 Item Christmas Swap

I was in a 6 item Christmas Swap with my online sewing group.
I received these great pressies from gorgeous Dale.

Something for under the Christmas Tree

I got this great Block Bag.
It even has 2 zippered compartments for needles, cotton etc so they don't get lost.
It will be great to take on sewing outings to friend's places.

A Decoration for the Christmas Tree

I got this handmade cone to put on my tree.

Something to Read.

I got this great Material Obsession Book.
It will be great to read and get ideas for projects out of it.

Something Smelly

I got this gorgeous smelly Crabtree & Evelyn lavender soap.

Something to Eat

Chocolates of course, what more could a girl want especially when Ferrero Rocher are one of my favourites.
It was hard to keep Treasure away from them.

A Fat Quarter

Green fabric with maroon flowers, my 2 favourite colours.
I now just have to decide what to make with it.

This was a great swap.
Thank you Dale for the great pressies, they are all wonderful.
Thank you Maree for organising this swap, a real success.
