Quilt for my 234yr old mum

I made this quilt for my mother last year. It is a quilt as you go which made it really easy to make. Chris, who owns my local quilt shop "Buttons and Bows" decided to teach us how to use different stitches and functions on our sewing machines so we would get the most out of them. When she discovered this Monica Poole pattern she decided it was what she needed to do this. We had great fun learning to use different functions of our machines.

My mother absolutely loves this quilt and it takes pride of place on her bed. She tells everyone that she never thought that I could make such a beautiful quilt as I was never interested in sewing when I was younger.

How lovely to see this quilt again, it is really inspiring me to get a wiggle on and start mine. You must have seen other fabric types being used when you made yours, so can you tell me - does it only work in soft romantic fabrics, or might it work in brighter, bolder fabrics do you think?
